The period between 1714 and 1830 witnessed the rise of both the French and American Revolutions and really does display a vast range of jewellery styles throughout this period.
Jewellery in this period was largely worn by the elite and wealthier individuals and is mainly characterised as being extremely elaborate and regal.
Sets of matching pieces and suites were particularly popular during this era including earrings, necklaces, brooches, bracelets, pins, combs and tiaras, and would usually have been passed down by the leading female member of the family.
All jewellery at this time would have been hand made and interestingly, the Georgian period was regarded as being a time of great innovation which can be reflected in the popularity of bright and colourful large gems.
