These are Beautiful and Artistic Antique Gold Earrings, set with Quality Garnets and Rose-cut Diamonds, c. 1850.The Garnets are pendeloque-cut (pear shape), and cabochon (convex), in a smooth Gold rubover setting, for comfort when wearing.The Garnets have a gorgeous deep red wine colour and measure 15mm., by 10mm at the widest.Slices of Garnet have been used in windows in Churches and Temples in the past, and Legend has it that Noah suspended Garnet in the Ark in order to dispense Light.Garnets are also known to have curative effects.
