This fabulous festoon necklace is made from faceted French jet.There are 7 long drop pieces of jet set into a beaded jet necklace.Each of the 7 pieces is faceted and shimmers with reflected light and each one is separated from the other by 2 jet beads.Jet became popular, especailly in the Victorian era, when Queen Victoria wore jet jewellery to mourn the loss of her husband.It is considered to be serene but very elegant and stylish.This necklace is in very good condition and looks stunning when worn.It weighs 33.5 grams.The necklace measures 39cms - that's 15 1/2 inches.Each jet drop measure 40mm down by 7mm across - 120mm across all seven.Old Code 2157.
