Netsuke are miniature sculptures that were invented in 17th-century Japan to serve a practical function - They are compact three-dimensional figures carved in a round shape and are usually around one to three inches high.The attention to detail is amazing - from the feathers on the geese to the open beaks to the detail on the lily pad - on both the top and the underneath.You can imagine the noise these geese are making - they look so lifelike!The eyes are made from small pieces of agate.It has also been signed.It is in very good condition and a fabulous piece.It weighs 18.4 grams.It measures 45mm across by 48mm down - that's 1 3/4 inches by 2 inches.Old Code 2154.
