This Netsuke owl is fabulous.Netsuke is a small Japanese carved ornament, once used to fasten small objects (e.g. a purse or pouch for tobacco, medicines etc.) to a sash, worn round the waist, in traditional costume.The owl is beautifully hand carved with amazing attention to detail including the bough that it is perched on.It is signed on the back.The owl has small agate eyes.The owl is in very good condition and looks brilliant.It weighs 25.8 grams.The owl measures 25mm across by 54mm down - that's 1 inch by 2 inches.Old Code 2153
