A Distinctive and Elegant ‘Floral’ Pendant set with Quality Peridots on a Snake Chain. Peridots are at the top of the semi-precious range of Stones. They were very popular in Victorian times, often referred to as ‘Olivines’ – a reference to their attractive colour. Peridot was sometimes used in Religious Jewellery. The Crusaders brought Peridot to Europe in the early Middle Ages, transporting Stones from St. John’s Island in the Red Sea, where it has been mined for over 3,500 years!The Peridots are set in an oval floral pattern with three pendeloque-cut Peridot droppers. The centre oval Peridot itself is approx. 1 ½ carats, with a total of approx. 9 carats of superb Peridots. They are collet set for comfort when wearing and 18 carat Gold on silver. The bale is a generous size. The Pendant hangs 2 ¼ inches from the top of the bale to the longest middle Pendant dropper. The chain is a smooth, snake link for maximum comfort, and is 22 ½ inches long. The clasp is an ornate shepherd’s crook for simplicity in fitting, and security when wearing.
