This Russian silver suite of jewellery is very colourful and fabulous looking.All of the items are hand painted on enamel with silver filigree.Until the time Russia was a monarchy, it was known for its jewellery, which was a bright contrast to subdued and even prim Victorian and other West European jewellery of the time. Not only was Russian jewellery opulent and luxurious, it was also a fine example of master craftsmanship.The beautiful pale blue enamel has brightly coloured flowers painted on the front with decorative silver filigree on the outside.The matching earrings have the same design and have shepherd hook fittings for pierced ears.The matching ring is the same as the brooch and earrings with decorative silver filigree on the shouldersThe brooch, ring and earrings boast superb workmanship - see the detail on the backs as well as the front!The brooch weighs 7.6 grams, the earrings 7.9 grams and the ring weighs 5.1 grams which is fairly heavy for a ring.The brooch measures 50mm across by 26mm down - that's 2 inches by 1 inch.The earrings measure 17mm across by 37mm down - that's under 3/4 an inch by 1 1/2 inches.The ring measures 12mm across by 22mm down - that's over 1/2 an inch by just under 1 inch.Old Code 1565-7.
