This piece of amber shows a long haired cat grooming itself - how cute!The attention to detail is amazing - from it's facial features, to the cat's fur and it's paws.Amber was made popular recently by the film "Jurassic Park".Amber is fossilised pine resin and is considered valuable today.This piece is a darker colour amber - a beautiful piece and very collectable.Netsuke are miniature sculptures that were invented in 17th-century Japan to serve a practical function - they are compact three-dimensional figures carved in a round shape and are usually around one to three inches high.The cat is signed on the underside.It weighs 14.7 grams.It measures 35mm across by 26mm down - that's under 1 1/2 inches by over 1 inch.It represents the Victorian style.Old Code 159.
