A Beautiful pair of Quality Victorian Silver drop Earrings set with fine Scottish Agates.There are three pieces of smooth, carved Cairngorm Agates set into each Silver drop, including Jasper and Bloodstone Agate.It was Queen Victoria and her love of all things Scottish who instigated the fashion for this type of jewellery. When she purchased Balmoral in 1848, the Queen's children and her guests wore tartans at a Ball to mark the opening of the 1851 Exhibition and were all required to dress in Scottish outfits. The heart of English society was entirely captivated by the subtle colours of moss and heather, the mysteries of high grey castle walls and the strict heraldry which still ruled the clans.
