These Victorian hand carved Whitby Jet long earrings are elegant!Whitby Jet became popular in Queen Victoria's reign.She used Whitby Jet jewellery when she was mourning the death of her beloved Prince Albert - the Whitby Jet was sombre but serence and elegant.The design and workmanship of these earrings is superb.The shepherd hook fittings are gold.The earrings weigh a mere 2.2 grams.They measure 8mm across by 40mm down - that's just over 1/4 an inch by 1 1/2 inches - the hook adds on another 10mm.Old Code 4136.
